MUNCIE, Ind. -- On the heels of her record-tying performance at the Cardinals’ season-opening tournament, Ball State’s Jenna Hague has been named the Mid-American Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week.
Hague matched the Ball State 54-hole scoring record at 1-under par 215 (72-70-73) on her way to medalist honors at Illinois State’s Redbird Invitational.
The junior from Burlington, Ontario, birdied two of her final three holes in Monday’s final round to claim a one-stroke victory at the par-72, 6,051-yard Weibring Golf Club. She also led Ball State to a second-place finish as a team.
The individual victory was the fifth of Hague’s career as she extended her own school record for wins. She won twice each in her freshman and sophomore seasons. She has now been tabbed the league’s golfer of the week six times in her career.
The Cardinals play their second fall tournament next week at Louisville’s Cardinal Cup. The action gets underway Monday at The Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Ky.
