DAYTON, Ohio -- Ball State women's golfer Jenna Hague finished as the runner-up in the 113th Women's Western Golf Association National Amateur Championship after falling Saturday in the final match.

Hague lost to Clemson incoming freshman Ashlan Ramsey, 7 and 6, in the 36-hole championship match at Dayton Country Club. Ramsey, who also won last week's Eastern Amateur Championship, is the No. 2 player in the Golfweek women's amateur world rankings.

Saturday was the sixth straight day of golf for Hague, who was one of the final two standing out of the original field of 144 players.

The junior-to-be from Ontario earned her spot in the 64-player championship bracket after two days of stroke-play qualifying early this week. She then won five match-play contests in three days to reach Saturday's final.

Hague was one of four Ball State golfers competing at the Western Amateur this week. Rising senior Meghan Perry also qualified for the championship bracket. She lost her first-round match Wednesday but stayed around to caddie for Hague.

Rising senior Sarah Westaway and sophomore-to-be Karley Dobis each won consolation flights. Westaway claimed the title in flight four, while Dobis won flight five. Both of those brackets concluded Friday.

The Women's Western Amateur is one of the oldest and most prestigious women's amateur tournaments in the United States, having been contested since 1901. It counts among its past champions a number of eventual LPGA standouts, including Nancy Lopez, Beth Daniel, Cristie Kerr, Grace Park and Stacy Lewis.
