Hague Shows Well at First Women's Porter Cup

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State women's golfer Jenna Hague competed last week at the first-ever Women's Porter Cup.

The tournament, played at Niagara Falls Country Club in New York, featured some of the top amateur players in women's golf.

Hague finished the event in a tie for 21st place. The Ontario native and rising junior at Ball State, posted a two-round total of 154 in the weather-shortened 36-hole tournament.

The men's Porter Cup has been contested for 54 years as one of the most prestigious events in amateur golf, and this year marked the first time for the women's event.

Perry Reaches State Match Play Quarters
Earlier this summer, Ball State's Meghan Perry reached the quarterfinal round of the Indiana Women's Golf Association Match Play Championship at The Players Club in Yorktown.

Perry, who will be a senior this fall, advanced to the the 16-player match play by tying for fifth in the one-day qualifying round. She won her opening match May 30 before falling in the quarterfinals.

Dobis Playing Midwest Collegiate Amateur Series
Karley Dobis, a Fort Wayne product who recently completed her freshman season with the Cardinals, is playing this summer on the G.O.L.F. Midwest Collegiate Amateur Series.

Dobis placed fifth in an event earlier this month at Chestnut Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne and tied for 17th in late May in an event at Firestone Country Club's West Course in Akron, Ohio.

Cardinals in Western Amateur
Four members of the Ball State women's golf team will play this week in the 113th Women's Western Golf Association National Amateur Championship.

Hague, Perry, Dobis and Sarah Westaway will compete in the tournament played at Dayton Country Club in Ohio.

One of the oldest women's amateur tournaments in the United States, the Western Amateur starts Monday. There are two rounds of stroke play followed by a cut to the top 64 players for match play.
