Transfer Meghan McDougall to Join Women’s Golf Team
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Meghan McDougall, who played her freshman year this season with the University of Kentucky women’s golf team, will transfer to Ball State and has signed scholarship papers to compete for the Cardinals.
A product of Markham, Ontario, and a graduate of Bill Crothers Secondary School, McDougall is a former Future Collegians World Tour All-American. She played in two events last fall at Kentucky and will be eligible to compete next season for Ball State as a sophomore.
“Meghan is a very highly ranked golfer in Ontario and Canada,” Ball State coach Katherine Mowat said. “She will no doubt play a big role in our team's success over the next three years. She is an exceptional student and she is very committed to her golf game.”
McDougall was a member of the Team Ontario under-19 squad in both 2010 and 2011 for the Golf Association of Ontario, and she won a silver medal at the 2010 Ontario Summer Games.
Last summer, McDougall won the junior girls' division of the 2012 CN Future Links Atlantic Championship by 14 strokes. This past winter, she competed in the prestigious Dixie Amateur.
“Meghan will fit in well with our team and will help lead this program to new heights,” Mowat said. “I am very excited to have the opportunity to coach such a talented student-athlete.”
As a high school senior, McDougall led Bill Crothers Secondary School to a third-place finish at the 2011 Ontario provincial high school championship. She maintained a 76.4 stroke average her senior year, and her average as a freshman at Kentucky was 77.67.
McDougall attended the same high school as Kelsey Sear, who signed with Ball State last fall and will be a freshman for the Cardinals next season. Ball State already has two Ontario natives on the roster in Jenna Hague and Sarah Westaway.
