BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Ball State women’s golf team used a strong final round Sunday to hold onto its fifth-place spot on the final leaderboard at the Indiana Invitational.

The Cardinals were one of four teams in the 15-team field to break 300 on Sunday, posting a team score of 299 to mark their best 18-hole score of the year.

Ball State closed the day where it started, in fifth place, with a 54-hole total of 924 (312-313-299) on the par-72 Indiana University Golf Course.

Indiana finished as the tournament champion at 26-over par 890, while Kansas was three shots back at 893. Eastern Michigan (917) and Toledo (918) finished right ahead of Ball State in third and fourth place, respectively.

Meghan Perry and Jenna Hague each carded a 73 in the final round for the Cardinals’ best scores of the day. Perry climbed into a tie for 20th place individually, matching Autumn Duke for the best finish by a Ball State golfer this weekend.

Perry finished at 15-over par 231 (82-76-73) for the tournament, while Duke also finished at 231 (76-79-76). Hague finished just one stroke behind that pair in a tie for 23rd at 232 (77-82-73).

Zoe Camus gave the Cardinals a fourth golfer among the top 30 in the field of 85 individuals, finishing in 30th at 234 (79-78-77). Sarah Westaway rounded out the Ball State lineup in a tie for 42nd at 239 (80-80-79).

Ball State’s Karley Dobis competed as an individual and tied for 51st at 242 (82-82-78).

Indiana’s Elizabeth Tong held onto her overnight lead by posting a final-round 71 to close the tournament at 1-over par 217 and win by five strokes.
