MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State sophomore Jenna Hague has been named the Mid-American Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for the second time this season.
Hague, who just won the SCU Colby Invitational, is the second consecutive Ball State golfer to earn the award, following teammate Meghan Perry last week.
Not only did Hague claim medalist honors at the Colby Invite, but she also led the Cardinals to the team championship. She turned in a round of even-under par 70 on Tuesday to close with a 36-hole total of 2-over 142 (72-70).
Hague came from two strokes back entering the final round to win the tournament by three shots over her nearest competitor on the par-70, 6,146-yard layout at Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose, Calif. She topped a field of 68 golfers at the tournament and led Ball State to a four-stroke victory in the 11-team field.
The individual victory was the third for Hague in just 16 career tournaments. She won twice last season as a freshman, including the MAC Championships. She has also tied for first in two other tournaments that were then decided in playoffs.
Hague was the Sept. 26 MAC Golfer of the Week earlier this season after tying for first at the Cardinal Classic. She also won the award twice last season as a freshman.
The team victory at the Colby Invitational was the second in a row for Ball State and its third this season. The Cardinals won last week at The Preview in Nashport, Ohio, in addition to taking first at their own Cardinal Classic in September.
This week's action marked the last of five fall tournaments for the Cardinals, which are now off from competition until mid-February.
