MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State men's tennis player Patrick Elliott was named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season and the third time in his career.
"Pat came through in a pressure situation winning last match on against Western Michigan," said Ball State head men's tennis coach Bill Richards. "This clinched a spot in the MAC tournament for us so it was a huge win. So this was a well deserved honor for Pat."
Elliott posted a 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 win at the No. 2 singles position to help the Cardinals clinch a 4-3 Mid-American Conference win over rival Western Michigan Sunday afternoon at Sorensen Courts in Kalamazoo, Mich. With the win, the Cardinals improved to 10-11 overall and 1-2 in league play.
Along with his singles MAC Player of the Week recognition, Elliott has also received two MAC Doubles Team of the Week honors this season.
Ball State men's hosts IUPUI (4-16) Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. The Cardinals will then close out the week with their last MAC regular season match versus Buffalo (11-5, 1-1 MAC) with first serve at 1 p.m. Sunday. Both matches will be played at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center, weather permitting. If moved indoors, they will be played at the YMCA Tennis Center.
