Four members of the Ball State men's tennis team, Dalton Albertin, Ray Leonard, Cliff Morrison and Austin Smith received All-Academic Scholar Athlete accolades from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for the 2012-13 season.
"We take great pride in the academic success of our team members," said men's tennis coach Bill Richards. "To have four players receive this award is a great accomplishment for them individually as well as our team. These young men can say they were Mid- American Conference Champions as well as ITA Scholars. These are great accomplishments on and off the court."
Albertin has earned this prestigious award all four years of his career at Ball State. Smith has received the honor three times while this is Morrison’s second time capturing the achievement and a first for Leonard.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade- point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).
