Men's Tennis Goes 1-1 Saturday
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team went 1-1 in its doubleheader Saturday afternoon at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center. Ball State fell to No. 50 Michigan State (6-1) and then swept in-state rival Anderson (7-0). The Cardinals are now 7-5 on the season.
Against the Ravens, Ball State started strong sweeping all three doubles matches.
As Ball State headed in singles up 1-0 the Cardinals managed to take all six singles matches from Anderson. Dalton Albertin, Patrick Elliott and Austin Sansone didn't lose a game over their opponents winning 6-0, 6-0. Ray Leonard, Imanol Arconada and Austin Smith also defeated their opponents in straight sets.
The Cardinals fell behind early in their match against No. 50 Michigan State after losing the doubles point. Ball State did take one doubles match from the Spartans after Alexandre Brym and Arconada took down Drew Lied and JP Mullan at the No. 3 spot.
Smith was the lone Cardinal to win in singles action. Smith took down Michigan State's Will Davis 4-6, 6-2 (10-6) at the No. 6 position.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues non-conference action March 7 at UNLV in Las Vegas, Nev. First serve is at 2 p.m. (PT).
