MUNCIE, Ind. - Juniors Ray Leonard and Patrick Elliott along with freshman Lucas Andersen of the Ball State men's tennis team have earned All-Mid-American Conference First and Second Team accolades respectively.  The All-MAC honors are voted on by the league's coaches and were announced by the conference office Tuesday.

The Ball State men's tennis team earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships by winning the Mid-American Conference Tournament title last Saturday and will play a first-round match at Illinois May 9 at 5 p.m. (EST).

"Great honors for all three of these players," Ball State head men's tennis coach Bill Richards said. "They were instrumental in winning the championship and greatly deserving of their all conference awards."

Leonard was named All-MAC First Team for the third straight season.  He helped the Cardinals claim their 22nd MAC title Saturday after their 4-3 win over Buffalo.  Leonard posted a straight set victory over Damien David on court one to give Ball State the 3-1 edge over the Bulls.

Elliott garnered All-MAC second team honors for the first time in his career.  Elliott ended the season with a 15-6 dual mark and went 2-2 in league action.  He garnered MAC Player of the Week honors, April 16.  Elliott put the Cardinals up 2-1 in the MAC title match Saturday after his win over Buffalo at No. 2 singles.

Andersen has received All-MAC Second Team honors as a true freshman.  He owns a 17-4 dual mark with a 4-0 MAC ledger.   Andersen's three-set singles win on court three Saturday clinched the 4-3 victory for the third-seeded Ball State men's tennis team over fourth-seed Buffalo in the championship match of the 2014 Mid-American Conference Tournament.

The Ball State men's tennis team continues its season when it travels to Illinois Friday, May 9 for the first round of the NCAA Championship.  The Cardinals will take on the No. 12 Fighting Illini at 5 p.m. (EST) in Champaign.
