McKinney, Clouser Lead Menís Golf on Day 2 at Vandy

FRANKLIN, Tenn. -- McCormick Clouser and Keegan McKinney led the Ball State men’s golf team Saturday with rounds of 5-over par 76 on the second day of the Mason Rudolph Championship.

The Cardinals dropped into a tie for 11th place after a round of 309 as a team that brought their 36-hole total to 604 (+36) at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.

Tournament host Vanderbilt, the nation’s 14th-ranked team, climbed into first place with an even-par round of 284. With a two-round score of 573 (+5), the Commodores will enter Sunday with a two-stroke advantage on round-one leader Alabama, the No.1  team in the country.

Florida State’s Jack Maguire climbed to the top of the individual leaderboard with the low round of the tournament, a 66, to get to 5-under. He leads by one shot over Georgia Southern’s Charlie Martin and Vanderbilt’s Hunter Stewart.

Clouser leads Ball State individually in a tie for 26th at 147 (+5), while McKinney is tied for 36th at 149 (+7) in the field of 78 golfers.

Ball State’s other counting scores Saturday were a 77 from Zach Yinger and an 80 from Tyler Merkel. James Blackwell finished with an 81 for the day. Merkel owns a two-round total of 153 (+11), while Yinger and Blackwell are both at 159 (+17).

This weekend’s 14-team tournament features three of the top 15 teams in the country and 10 of the top 80 in the Golfstat rankings.

The third and final round is scheduled for Sunday at 8 a.m. CT (9 a.m. ET). Ball State will be grouped with 12th-ranked Florida State and Rice. Live scoring is available at
