MUNCIE, Ind. -- The NCAA announced Thursday it has selected Ball State as the host institution for one of the six NCAA Men's Golf Regionals in the spring of 2015.

The Cardinals will host the event as a joint effort with the Hamilton County Sports Authority at The Sagamore Club in Noblesville, Ind. The highly regarded club, which opened in 2003, features a championship course laid out by golf great and renowned course designer Jack Nicklaus.

"It's a tremendous opportunity for Ball State, our athletic department and our men's golf program to be associated with an NCAA Regional in a hosting capacity," Ball State men's golf coach Mike Fleck said. "It's exciting for our university and for golf in the state of Indiana."

The Sagamore Club, which hosted the NCAA Division II Championship in 2010, features a par-72 layout and can play to a length of 7,173 yards. The club's PGA Professional is Dan Witt, a Ball State alum who lettered in golf for the Cardinals from 1999-2002.

The Hamilton County Sports Authority is a leading promoter of regional and amateur sports development. It promotes events in Hamilton County and serves as a resource for organizations in bidding on and planning for events.

Noblesville and Hamilton County are located southwest of Muncie with The Sagamore Club less than an hour's drive away from the Ball State campus.

The other five regionals for 2015 were awarded to the UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C. (host North Carolina), The Farms Golf Club in San Diego, Calif. (host San Diego), The Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas (host Texas Tech), Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash. (host Washington) and The Course at Yale in New Haven, Conn. (host Yale).
