Ball State's men's golf team, which is ranked 43rd in the nation in the latest Golfstat Rankings, finished third in its final golf tournament of the fall season at the Cincinnati Bearcat Invitational in Hebron, Ky.
The Cardinals finished third with a 291-290-293=874, while Oakland won the tournament with an 871 and Northern Illinois was second with an 873.
Eric Steger placed third as an individual with a 69-73-72=214. Tyler Merkel tied for 12th with a 78-71-70=219. TJ Carpenter and Tony Lazzara tied for 34th out of the 90 golfers. Carpenter managed a 74-74-76=224, while Lazzara tallied a 77-72-75=224. Alex Stinson placed 74th with a 71-85-79=235.
The Cardinals, the highest ranking Mid-American Conference men's golf team, were joined at the event by Austin Peay, Bellarmine, Belmont, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Cleveland State, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Marshall, Morehead State, Northern Illinois, Northern Kentucky, Oakland, Ohio, Western Kentucky and Youngstown State.
The tournament was played at Traditions Golf Club in Hebron, Ky.
