Men's Golf Places Second at Mid-American Match Play



Ball State's men's golf team suffered a 3.5 to 2.5 loss in the championship match in the Mid-American Match Play event at Lake Jovita Golf Course in Dade City, Fla.

The Cardinals finished second, while Bowling Green claimed the title after entering the tournament as the sixth seed.   Eastern Michigan finished third, while Northern Illinois placed fourth.  Toledo tallied a fifth place finish, while Miami University finished sixth.  Akron tallied a seventh place showing and Ohio finished eighth at the event.

In the championship match, McCormick Clouser won 2 UP over Chris Melvin of Bowling Green and was the Cardinals only individual winner.  Clouser went 3-0 in the tournament.

Alex Stinson, Brodie Williams and Tony Lazzara all halved their matches in the final match.

Ball State will return to action March 10-12 at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate at the Village of Pinehurst, N.C.  The Cardinals will play Pinehurst No. 8 and Pinehurst No. 2 in the event.
