What's On Tap: Ball State improved to 1-3 on the season with a 53-46 win over visiting IPFW Monday Nov. 19 at home in Worthen Arena. The win marked the first for first-year head coach Brady Sallee. Katie Murphy led the Cardinals with a double-double, tallying 12 points and had personal best performance of 14 rebounds. Nathalie Fontaine added a career-high 15 points, while Brittany Carter added eight points, five assists and four steals for the Cardinals.
About Bethune Cookman: The Wildcats own a 2-2 overall mark after posting wins over Trinity Baptist (84-41) and Florida Atlantic (71-61). Bethune Cookman has lost to Jacksonville (68-54) and Stetson (66-52). The Wildcats are led by Amanda Hairston with 17.0 points per game and Chasity Ren Taylor with 13.7 ppg.
The Coaches: Ball State head coach Brady Sallee is in his first season at Ball State. Sallee's career coaching record is 137-112 and he is 1-3 with the Cardinals. He was named the the 11th head women's basketball coach in Ball State history May 10. Vanessa Blair is in her fifth year as Bethune Cookman's head coach. Blair owns a career record of 54-69 as a head coach while posting a 25-39 overall mark in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. She has a career record of 174-204.
The Series: Ball State plays on the road for the second time this season as they take on Bethune Cookman Friday in Daytona, Fla. Tonight's game marks the first meeting between the Cardianls and the Wildcats.
What's Next: The Cardinals will take on Stetson Sunday at 2 p.m. Both teams faced each other last season when the Hatters came to Worthen Arena which resulted in a 78-73 double overtime victory for Ball State. Sophomore guard Brittany Carter had a career high 20 points in the win while junior forward Katie Murphy pulled down what was at the time, a personal best rebound performance with 12 boards.
