MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State head women's basketball coach Brady Sallee announced the team's award winners for the 2013-2014 season at the annual Women's Basketball Banquet, which was held Saturday night at the Alumni Center.

The Cardinals ended the season with an 18-17 overall mark and a 9-9 Mid-American Conference ledger.  After a thrilling run to the 2014 MAC Tournament championship game, Ball State extended an at-large invitation to play in the 64-team Women’s National Invitation Tournament.  The Cardinals WNIT run was cut short after Ball State suffered a close 69-65 loss at Northwestern, March 20.

Sallee, who completed his second season at Ball State, became only the second coach in program history to take the Cardinals to back-to-back WNITs.  The last time it happened was 2001-02 and 2002-03 under former head coach Tracy Roller.

The Cardinals became postseason eligible by winning seven of their final eight games en route to advancing to the MAC Tournament championship game for the first time since winning it all in 2009. In the semifinals of the MAC Tournament, Ball State scored a thrilling 73-55 win over 25th-ranked Bowling Green. The Cardinals then lost to No. 3 seed Akron 79-68 in the title game.

The Tom Hammond Memorial Media or Fan Appreciation Award was given to Mike and Jackie Johnston.  The Feeney Memorial Scholarship, which goes to a deserving women's basketball player who has demonstrated passion and commitment to basketball and academics, was presented to Shelby Merder.  The Amy Lindsay Fuller Memorial Scholarship, awarded to a team member who is competitive, the ultimate teammate, loves the game of basketball and life, and is a person of great humor, that award was given to Haley Richardson.

Brandy Woody was recognized after earning MAC Player of the Week honors this season (12/30).  Two Cardinals, including Woody, were placed on the postseason award list.  Woody received All-MAC Honorable Mention, while Nathalie Fontaine was named Second Team All-MAC.  Woody and Shelbie Justice earned 2014 MAC All-Tournament team honors.

Fontaine received the Warrior Award for being the biggest fighter and battling for the team all throughout the season.  Woody was presented with the Blood, Sweat and Tears Award for the second straight season, because of her hard work and for being the toughest player.   Katie Murphy earned the Coaches Award and Justice was given the Cardinal Award.
