The Cardinals continued to control the remainder of the game despite Minnesota’s efforts.  Ball State’s largest lead came at the 6:11 mark after senior guard Shanee’ Jackson knocked down a three pointer off of the assist from Carter which made it a 16-point (51-35) ball game.

After that, Minnesota went on a 14-0 run to come within two (51-49) with only 1:13 remaining in the game.  Murphy hit a jumper to put Ball State back up by four (53-49) but Banham answered with a quick basket with 45 seconds left.  The Golden Gophers were then forced to foul with four seconds on the clock, Woody would knock down a free throw to seal the Ball State victory.

Ball State got off to a quick 8-0 start over Minnesota at the start of the first half.  The Cardinals led the entire first half eventually taking a 27-17 halftime advantage over the Golden Gophers.
