What's On Tap: Ball State women's basketball faces its last non-conference opponent of the season when the Cardinals travel to Valparaiso Saturday for a 2:35 p.m. tipoff at the ARC. The Cardinals last competed at home Dec. 18 when they lost a hard fought battle to Wyoming.  Ball State enters the game with a 3-9 overall mark.  Valparaiso is a member of the Horizon League and will enter the game with a 3-8 overall record.  The Crusaders have lost three straight and own a 2-1 mark at home.

About Valparaiso:  The Crusaders opened the season with a 64-52 victory of Big Ten foe Indiana, Nov. 9 at the Athletics-Recreation Center.  After that, the Crusaders captured a 76-59 victory over Purdue Calument before going on a five-game losing streak.  Valparaiso has not won a game since Dec. 1 when the Crusaders earned a 53-47 win at home against Saint Louis.  Valparaiso lost to one of the Cardinals' MAC West Division opponents Western Michigan (70-69) on Dec. 19.

The Coaches: Ball State head coach Brady Sallee is in his first season at Ball State.   Sallee's career coaching record is 139-118 and he is 3-9 with the Cardinals.  He was named the 11th head women's basketball coach in Ball State history May 10.  During his tenure at Eastern Illinois Sallee posted a 136-109 career record at EIU.  He led the Panthers to the institution's first ever Ohio Valley Conference title during the 2009-10 campaign. In 2011-12, Eastern Illinois was 22-9 overall, posted a 13-3 OVC mark and competed in the Women's National Invitation Tournament.  Tracey Dorow was named the seventh head women's basketball coach in Crusader program history in April of 2012. Dorow arrived at Valpo after spending 14 seasons as the head coach at Ferris State University, guiding the Bulldogs to four NCAA Division II Tournament appearances, two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division championships, and four 20-win seasons.
