WBB Hosts In-State Rival Butler Tuesday

What's On Tap: Ball State will host an in-state rival school for the second consecutive game when Butler comes to Worthen Arena Tuesday. Both teams are 0-1 heading into tonights game with Ball State dropping its home opener to Evansville by a score of 54-45 in the first game of head coach's Brady Sallee's tenure with the Cardinals. Ball State pulled within four at 46-42 with 2:11 left in the contest on a pair of free throws from freshman Nathalie Fontaine, but Evansville hit a three pointer to go back up 52-43 with 36 seconds left to secure the victory for the Purple Aces. Fontaine led all Ball State scorers with 14 points plus added five rebounds and two steals. Shelbie Justice added eight points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals for the Cardinals. Brandy Woody managed seven points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals for Ball State.
Brady Sallee Quote: "The great thing about basketball is that you don't get to dwell on a loss to long, said Sallee. "We are excited to be better than we were on Friday. Butler is good and will really show us where we are and where we need to go."
About Butler: The Bulldogs opened the 2012-13 season on the road at Marquette Saturday, Nov. 10. Butler fell to the Golden Eagles by a score of 73-62. The Bulldogs had three players in double figures with Taylor Schippers leading the way with 20 points while Daress McClung had 19 and teammate Mandy McDivitt chipped in 10.
The Coaches: Ball State head coach Brady Sallee is in his first season at Ball State. Sallee's career coaching record is 136-110 and he is 0-1 with the Cardinals. He was named the the 11th head women's basketball coach in Ball State history May 10. Beth Couture is in her 11th year as Butler's head coach. Couture owns a 161-144 career record at Butler.
