ATHENS, Ohio - The Ball State University women's basketball team (8-16, 3-8 MAC) lost 76-57 to Ohio University (11-14, 4-7 MAC) Saturday afternoon at the Convocation Center.
The Bobcats led the entire second half and shot 60.0 percent for the contest while the Cardinals were held to 40.0 percent from the field. Despite the loss Ball State out-rebounded the Bobcats 30 to 25, including 14 offensive rebounds while Ohio only had four.
Freshman guard Brittany Carter opened the game with a three pointer to give Ball State an early 3-0 edge over Ohio. The Cardinals led up until the 15:18 mark, after that both teams traded baskets with three ties and five lead changes.
The game was then tied 22-22 with under five minutes to play, Ohio went on a 9-0 run to give the Bobcats a 31-22 advantage with 3:17 left. The Bobcats controlled the remainder of the half as they headed into intermission with a 36-24 lead over Ball State.
The Ball State women's basketball team continues Mid-American Conference action when it travels to Northern Illinois Thursday at the Convocation Center for an 8 p.m. (EST) tipoff.
