WBB at Buffalo Saturday for First Round of MAC

Scouting Ball State: Ball State begins its quest in the Mid-American Conference tournament as it takes on Buffalo at Alumni Arena in the first round Saturday at 7 p.m..  The Cardinals own a 9-20 overall record and lost its MAC regualr season meeting to the Bulls 77-61 Jan. 29.  Senior forward Emily Maggert leads the squad, averaging 14.9 points per game, while senior guard Ty'Ronda Benning adds 12.6 points per contest.  Maggert was the leading scorer against Northern Illinois after putting up 17 points.

Scouting Buffalo:  The Bulls will face the Cardinals with a 15-14 overall record.  Buffalo closed out the MAC regular season with a 92-68 loss at Bowling Green Wednesday night.  UB has won 2 out of its last three contests.  Buffalo owns a 6-7 mark at home with Kourtney Brown leading the way with 21.9 points along with teammate Brittany Hedderson who is averaging 10.9 points per game.

The Coaches: Ball State head coach Kelly Packard is in her third season at Ball State . . . Packard's overall record at Ball State is 49-46 (.515), while her Mid-American Conference mark is 25-23. . . Linda Hill-MacDonald is in her sixth season at Buffalo. . . Hill-MacDonald's overall record at Buffalo is 65-113 and owns a MAC record of 31-65.

The Series: This is the 16th meeting between Ball State and Buffalo . . . The Cardinals lead the all-time series record 10-5 . . . The last time Ball State defeated the Bulls was last season by a score of 84-62 in Worthen Arena  .  . . Packard is (3-1) as a head coach against the Bulls . . . Ball State and Buffalo have never met in the first round of the MAC's at Buffalo.

Packard Embarking on 50 wins:  Head Coach Kelly Packard has earned 49 career victories at Ball State in three seasons (2008-present).  With a win over Buffalo Saturday, Packard could get win number 50, which makes her the only other coach besides Tracy Roller (2001-04)  to earn 50 victories in three seasons.
