WBB Looks to Extend Win Streak at EMU Sunday

What's On Tap:  Ball State will end its two game Mid-American Conference road swing Sunday when it faces Eastern Michigan at 2 p.m. in the Convocation Center.  The Cardinals improved to 2-0 against MAC West Division opponents Thursday after defeating Western Michigan, 73-50.  The Cardinals' victory at WMU extended Ball State's win streak to four.  Ball State is 9-11 overall and 6-1 in league action which is the best conference start for Ball State since 2008-09 season.  Eastern Michigan is coming off of a 67-62 victory at home over Northern Illinois.  The Eagles enter the game against the Cardinals with a 5-15 overall record and are 3-4 in conference action.

About Eastern Michigan:  The Eagles have won three MAC contests this season,
defeating Western Michigan (56-52) at WMU Jan. 10, Kent State (64-45) on the road Jan. 24 and Northern Ilinois (67-62) at home Jan. 31.  The Eagles have four players averaging double figures with Miranda Tate leading the way with 12.9 points per game.  Olivia Fouty is averaging (10.7 ppg), Bianca Cage (10.4 ppg) and rounding out the group is Natachia Watkins who is averaging 10.1 points per game. 

The Coaches: Ball State head coach Brady Sallee is in his first season at Ball State.   Sallee's career coaching record is 145-120 and he is 9-11 overall and 6-1 in the MAC with the Cardinals.  He was named the 11th head women's basketball coach in Ball State history May 10.  During his tenure at Eastern Illinois, Sallee posted a 136-109 career record.  He led the Panthers to the institution's first-ever Ohio Valley Conference title during the 2009-10 campaign. In 2011-12, Eastern Illinois was 22-9 overall, posted a 13-3 OVC mark and competed in the Women's National Invitation Tournament. Tory Verdi was named the head women's basketball coach at Eastern Michigan, April 26, 2012, after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant women's basketball coach at Kansas. In 2011-12, Kansas posted a 21-13 overall record and an 8-10 league mark to finish tied for sixth place in the Big 12 Conference. The Jayhawks were awarded an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and then surprised the hoops world with wins in the first and second rounds to advance to the team's first NCAA "Sweet 16" since 1998.
