WBB Continues Road Trip at Stetson Sunday

What's On Tap:  Ball State won its first road road game of the season when it defeated Bethune-Cookman Friday night in Moore Gymnasium.  Leading the way for the Cardinals was freshman guard Nathalie Fontaine after a personal best scoring performance of 18 points off of 7-of-11 shooting from the field while also pulling down eight rebounds.  Junior guard Brandy Woody chipped in 16 points while classmate forward Katie Murphy ended the night with 10 points and seven rebounds.  For the game Ball State shot 42.9 percent from the field while holding Bethune-Cookman to only 22.5 percent shooting. 

About Stetson:  The Hatters improved to 2-3 overall along with extending its home win streak to six after their 66-52 victory over Bethune-Cookman Wednesday night at the Edmunds Center.  Leading the way for Stetson was Victoria McGowan who scored 27 points while teammate Jama Sharp added 13 points for the night.  The Hatters only other win this season came against Florida A&M Nov. 16 by a score of 88-67.

The Coaches: Ball State head coach Brady Sallee is in his first season at Ball State.   Sallee's career coaching record is 138-112 and he is 2-3 with the Cardinals.  He was named the the 11th head women's basketball coach in Ball State history May 10.  Stetson's head coach Lynn Bria is in her fifth season with the Hatters.  Bria is coming off an excellent campaign in 2011-12 that saw the Hatters win 23 games and advance to the WNIT for the first time in school history..  Bria is familiar to the MAC as she was the head coach at Ohio University from 1999-2006. Bria's overall record is 59-73 at Stetson while her Atlantic Sun Conference record is 37-42.

The Series:  The Series:  The Cardinals continue their four game road swing Sunday when they play at Stetson.  Sunday's game is the fourth meeting all-time between Ball State and Stetson.  Ball State leads the all-time series record 2-1.  The Cardinals have won their last two meetings over Stetson at a neural site in 2000 by a score of 88-62 and then at Worthen Arena last season 78-73 in double overtime.

Ball State Starting Five:  Sophomore guard Shelbie Justice, Sophomore guard Brittany Carter, Freshman guard Nathalie Fontaine, Junior forward Katie Murphy and Junior forward Brandy Woody.
