Muncie, Ind. - - For the second straight season, the Mike Poehlein Invitational hosted by Purdue has been cancelled due to inclement weather. The meet will not be rescheduled.
Saturday’s forecast calls for temperatures of 33 degrees and snow, with wind chills in the low 20s at the meet’s planned start time. Heavy rains also soaked the track late Thursday night and into Friday morning.
Last year’s Mike Poehlein Invite was also cancelled after a winter storm rolled through the West Lafayette area and blanketed the campus with nine inches of snow just days before the meet was scheduled.
The Ball State outdoor track & field team returns to action next Friday (April 4), when it opens competition in the two-day Miami Invitational in Oxford, Ohio.
