Relays Lead T&F On Final Day Of MAC Championships
ATHENS, Ohio - - The 4x400m relay posted a season-fast time of 3:51.83 to lead the Ball State track & field team on the final day of the 2014 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships hosted by Ohio.
Kent State won the three-day meet with 132 points, while Akron placed second at 127. Eastern Michigan finished third with a team total of 100.50 points, followed by Buffalo (87.50), Western Michigan (70), Central Michigan (63), Bowling Green (60), Miami (57), Northern Illinois (42), Ohio (41), Toledo (37) and Ball State (1).
In the meet’s final women’s event, sophomore Becca Kropf (Goshen, Ind./Fairfield) freshman Olivia Ashba (Ellettsville, Ind./Edgewood), freshman Ariel Hune (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) and senior Hannah Lange (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville) combined to place 10th in the 4x400m relay by crossing the finish line in a season-best 3:51.83.
Earlier in the day, Ashba, junior Christina Crawford (Belleville, Mich./Romulus), freshman Makelle Skelton (Fort Wayne, Ind./Northrop) and Lange would combine for a time of 48.38 to place 11th in the 4x100m relay.
Ball State’s top individual performance in the final meet of the season came from junior Haley Austin (Avon, Ind./Avon) who tied for 12th in the high jump at 1.56m.
