BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - - Redshirt sophomore thrower Marie Lumpkin (Losantville, Ind./Union) posted a Mid-American Conference Indoor Championship automatic qualifying mark in the weight throw to lead the Ball State track & field team Friday on the first day of the Indiana Relays.
Lumpkin would place fifth in the weight throw with a career-best toss of 18.09m, which is also the third-best individual mark in program history. Overall, Ball State’s student-athletes posted three top 10 efforts and five career-best marks on the opening day of the Indiana Relays.
Redshirt sophomore Christina Crawford (Belleville, Mich./Romulus) posted BSU’s best individual finish on the day, winning the long jump with a career-best distance of 5.84m. Redshirt junior Rebecca Lomax (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) was a close second, with a leap of 5.66m.
Action in the meet continues Saturday, with morning section of the 400m run scheduled for 9:35 a.m.
