BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - - Three of Ball State’s seven cross country runners posted career-best efforts Saturday afternoon, as the Cardinals placed 12th at the 2013 Mid-American Conference Championship Meet hosted by Bowling Green at the Forrest Creason Golf Course in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Miami won the 6K race by placing four runners in the top 10 and scoring 45 total points to upset three-time defending champion Toledo who finished second with a score of 48.
Central Michigan was third with 60 points, followed by Eastern Michigan (111), Ohio (120), Bowling Green (156), Buffalo (192), Akron (217), Western Michigan (253), Kent State (257), Northern Illinois (271) and Ball State (350).
Junior Courtney Edon (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) paced the Cardinals, placing 42nd among all scored runners with a time of 23:01.93.
Ball State’s freshman duo of Ericka Rinehart (Angola, Ind./Angola) and Jordan Timmons (Bargersville, Ind./Center Grove) were the next Cardinals to cross the finish line, placing 74th (23:57.54) and 76th (24:01.11), respectively.
Junior Caitlynn Edon (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) was BSU’s fourth-fastest runner, posting a career-best 6K time of 24:05.74 to place 77th overall. Rounding out Ball State’s scored runners was sophomore Danielle Dahl (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) in 81st (24:18.68).
Ball State’s final two runners in the meet both posted career-best 6K marks, with junior Madelyn Webster (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) placing 82nd at 24:24.52 and redshirt freshman Becca Kropf (Goshen, Ind./Fairfield) earning 83rd (26.03.47).
The Ball State cross country team returns to action Friday, Nov. 15, when it travels to Madison, Wis., for the Great Lakes Regional.
