Cross Country Earns 5th At #JennaStrong Fall Classic
WILMINGTON, Ohio - - The Ball State cross country team turned in one of its strongest efforts of the season, scoring a fifth-place effort out of 34 teams at Friday's #JennaStrong Fall Classic hosted by Wilmington College.
The Cardinals' five scored runners posted an average time of 19:16.25 to earn 170 points in the meet. Mid-American Conference rival Toledo won the event with a combined score of 82 (18:57.88). Rounding out the top five were Roberts Wesleyan (94/18:59.12), Indianapolis (100/19:03.69), Findlay (169/19:14.71) and Ball State.
Junior Courtney Edon (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) led Ball State's runners to the finish line, placing fourth overall with a time of 18:40.28. The finish gave Edon her first top five effort of the season.
Next up for the Cardinals was sophomore Danielle Dahl (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) who placed 30th among scored runners with a time of 19:15.92.
Rounding out Ball State's scored runners were junior Caitlynn Edon (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) in 35th at 19:20.42, freshman Ericka Rinehart (Angola, Ind./Angola) in 45th at 19:27.03 and freshman Jordan Timmons (Bargersville, Ind./Center Grove) in 56th at 19:37.58.
Also running for the Cardinals were junior Madelyn Webster (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) in 91st at 20:14.17, redshirt freshman Becca Kropf (Goshen, Ind./Fairfield) in 134th at 21:12.92 and redshirt freshman Jordan Jenkins (Fort Wayne, Ind./Concordia Lutheran) in 310th at 22:58.61.
The Ball State cross country team returns to action Saturday, Nov. 2, when it travels to Bowling Green, Ohio, for the 2013 Mid-American Conference Championships. The women's race is set to start at 11 a.m.
