MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State cross country team returns to the course Friday at 4 p.m., when it travels to Athens, Ohio, for the Ohio Invitational.
The Cardinals are coming off a third-place showing at last weekend’s Butler Opener, in which the team collected four top 15 efforts.
Senior Courtney Edon (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) paced Ball State at the season-opening meet, with a four-place clocking of 19:19.0. The time was good enough to best three of then-No. 12 Butler’s five scored runners.
As a team, the Cardinals top five runners all finished within a little over a minute (1:02.2) of each other at the 5K meet.
In addition, four of the Cardinals’ 10 competitors turned in career-best 5K times at the event, including freshman Jessica Bryzek (Brownsburg, Ind./Indiana Academy) who placed 15th in her collegiate debut by crossing the finish line in 19:52.7.
