BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - - The Ball State cross country team had three runners finish in the top 36 to place sixth among 21 teams at the annual Indiana Intercollegiates hosted this season by Indiana University.
For the second straight weekend, junior MaryKate Mellen paced the Cardinals by turning in a 28th-place time of 18:59.
Freshman Courtney Edon followed right behind, turning in a clocking of 19:00 to finish 29th. Also finishing among the top 36 for the Cardinals was senior Madeline Goheen with a time of 19:10.
Overall, the Cardinals top five runners combined to score 193 points to finish sixth overall among 21 Indiana schools entered in the meet. The host Hoosiers won the competition with 19 points, led by a 1-2-3 effort from their top runners. Butler (63), Purdue (78), Indiana State (90) and Southern Indiana (180) rounded out the top five teams. A total of 169 runners were entered in the competition.
