MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State cross country team heads to Kalamazoo, Mich., Saturday morning to compete in the 2010 Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championships hosted by Western Michigan. The 6K women's meet starts at 11 a.m. at the Pine View Golf Club.
The Cardinals look to improve upon their 11th place finish at last year's MAC Championships, where senior Ali Bishel finished fourth with a time of 22:33.0 at the Ohio University Golf Course.
Also returning from last year's championship meet are sophomores Allison Blanck and MaryKate Mellen, as well as redshirt sophomore Christine Talhelm. Talhelm was BSU's third-fastest runner at the meet last season, posting a time of 24:31.3. Blanck also finished in scoring position of the Cardinals, turning in a time of 25:23.4. Mellen's time of 26:47.8 in the meet was not scored.
The Cardinals' have only competed in one 6K race this season, placing 38th at the Pre-National Invitational (Oct. 16) which included some of the top teams in the country. Bishel was BSU's top runner at the meet, turning in a time of 21:47.9 to place 111th out of the 257 scored runners. Madeline Goheen was BSU's next-best runner, clocking a time of 23:23.6.
