Cross Country Posts Five Career Bests At Regionals

   MADISON, Wis. - - The Ball State cross country team ended the 2013 season with a strong showing at the NCAA Great Lakes Region Championship, with five of its six runners posting career-best efforts at Wisconsin’s Zimmer Championship Course.

   Ball State’s five scored runners posted a team total of 819 points and an average 6K time of 23:34 to place 28th among the 33 teams entered in the event.

   No. 14 Michigan won the meet with a team score of 48, while No. 9 Butler placed second with 67 points. Rounding out the top five teams were No. 6 Michigan State (73), No. 21 Notre Dame (134) and host Wisconsin (136).

   Junior Courtney Edon (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) led the Cardinals to the finish line for the sixth time this season, placing 108th among the 225 scored runners with a career-fast effort of 22:40.

   Freshman Jordan Timmons (Bargersville, Ind./Center Grove) was the second Ball State runner to cross the finish line, placing 164th with a career-best effort of 23:27.

   Junior Caitlynn Edon (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) turned in the Cardinals’ third-best effort, clocking a career-best time of 23:40 to place 173rd overall.

   Rounding out Ball State’s scored runners were sophomore Danielle Dahl (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) and freshmen Ericka Rinehart (Angola, Ind./Angola) with times of 23:57 (184th place) and 24:02 (190th), respectively. Dahl’s effort was a career-best.

   Also running, but not scoring for the Cardinals, was junior Madelyn Webster (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) with a career-best time of 24:14 to place 197th overall.
