MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State baseball alum Brad Snyder (2001-03) made his return to the majors Tuesday night, starting at first base for the Texas Rangers in an 8-5 loss to the Miami Marlins.

Snyder, a 2003 first-round draft pick (18th overall) by the Cleveland Indians, went 1-for-3 in the game and drew an RBI walk in the Ranger’s four-run sixth inning. Snyder would also score the go-ahead run later in the frame, giving Texas a brief 5-4 edge.

Prior to being called up from Triple-A Round Rock, Snyder had only played two professional games at first base. Snyder played a majority of his Ball State career in the outfield, but did play two games at first base for the Cardinals, one in each of his first two seasons.

Tuesday’s contest marked Snyder’s first game in the majors since June 10, 2011, when he played for the Chicago Cubs.

Including his debut with the Rangers, Snyder has appeared in 21 career Major League Baseball games, including 20 games between 2010 and 2011 for the Cubs.
