Baseball's Zach Plesac Earns Another National Honor
Zach Plesac, a freshman pitcher for the Ball State baseball team in 2014, has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Freshman All-America First Team.
Plesac, who was previously named the Collegiate Baseball National Freshman Pitcher of the Year, is one of three relief pitchers from around the country named to the NCBWA Freshman All-America First Team.
The 2014 Mid-American Conference Freshman Pitcher of the Year, Plesac was 12-2 with six saves for the Cardinals this season. He tallied a 2.11 earned-run average and ranks fourth in the nation in pitching victories. A three-time MAC West Division Pitcher of the Week, Plesac struck out 67 batters in 85.1 innings pitched in 2014.
Plesac has also been named to the Collegiate Baseball Louisville Slugger All-America Third Team and the publications Freshmen All-America squad.
Plesac helped Ball State to a 39-18 overall record, a 22-4 MAC mark, the MAC Regular-Season Championship and a MAC West Division title.
