Baseball's Zach Plesac Earns All-America Honor
Zach Plesac, a freshman pitcher for the Ball State baseball team in 2014, has been added to the Louisville Slugger All-America Third Team, which was selected by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
Plesac, the Mid-American Conference Freshman Pitcher of the Year, has been added to the team that also includes Ball State outfielder Sean Godfrey.
Plesac tallied a 12-2 pitching record with six saves and a 2.11 earned-run average for the Cardinals. Plesac ranks fourth in the nation in pitching victories. A three-time MAC West Division Pitcher of the Week, Plesac struck out 67 batters in 85.1 innings pitched this past season.
Plesac and Godfrey were two of only three players from the MAC honored on the Louisville Slugger All-America teams with 2014 MAC Pitcher of the Year Seth Varner of Miami University also earning third-team honors. Plesac and Godfrey become the 15th and 16th players in Ball State history to be honored by an All-America team and the eighth and ninth to earn third-team honors.
Plesac helped Ball State to a 39-18 overall record, a 22-4 MAC mark, the MAC Regular-Season Championship and a MAC West Division title.
