Baseball teams throughout history have had different identities and themes.  Anything from the Big Red Machine to the 'Whiz Kid' Phillies and the 'We Are Family' Pittsburgh Pirates.  Those aren't just names, though.  Each one means something.  They have importance both to players and to the fans.

In Muncie, the baseball team has gone about calling itself the "Rat Pack" this spring.  No, it's not a harkening back to the days of silky crooners like Frank Sinatra.  It's a little more direct.  The Ball State baseball team calls itself the Rat Pack because the players think of themselves as rats.  See in baseball, there's dirt everywhere.  And the Cards take pride in diving on it, sliding through it and playing with an all-or-nothing mentality that gets them dirty...like rats.

But what's in a name?  Watch this Ball State All-Access exclusive to discover how the Cards chose the Rat Pack name, how they display their identity on the field and how the idea is catching on.

Ball State is next in action tonight at Northern Illinois.  First pitch is at 3pm CST.  With a win, or a Central Michigan loss, the Rat Pack Cards clinch their first Mid-American Conference regular season title since 2001.  Live Audio can be hear free by clicking here.
