SL Takeover: Baseball Takes Over On The Clock

The first place Ball State baseball is partnering with Ball State’s immersive learning group Sports Link, as players Sean Godfrey and Jacob Brewer host Sports Link’s On The Clock on Wednesday night.

On The Clock is a weekly radio show hosted by Sports Link students Luke Martin and Zach Hughes on Ball State student radio station 91.3 WCRD. The show has featured over 250 guests from ESPN, CBS Sports, Fox Sports and more over the past three years.

The show Wednesday night will feature ESPN’s Tim Kurkjian, ESPN’s Adnan Virk, and MLB Network’s Dan Plesac.

Tim Kurkjian is one of the most recognized baseball personalities across the country. He joined ESPN in March 1998 as both a reporter for Baseball Tonight and a senior writer for ESPN The Magazine.

Adnan Virk, a Canadian-born sports reporter and host, joined ESPN in May 2010 as an anchor for ESPNEWS, the 24-hour all-sports news network. In 2013, he also began hosting Baseball Tonight.

Dan Plesac, uncle of Ball State freshman pitcher Zach Plesac, is an MLB Network analyst who you can watch throughout the year on MLB Tonight. Dan also is a former pitcher in MLB , as he pitched from 1986-2003.

The Indiana Association of School Broadcasters recognized the show as the best sports talk show in the state of Indiana in 2014 and best radio Interview in 2013 with ESPN’s Mike Tirico. On The Clock also has been voted WCRD Sports Show of the year for three straight years.

Sports Link is producing two stories on Sean Godfrey and Jacob Brewer, which will be released soon.

Sean Godfrey, a senior outfielder on the Ball State baseball team, was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week for his performance in the Cardinals sweep over Central Michigan last weekend.

Godfrey led Ball State to a series sweep over the Chippewas with his .389 batting average for the week, including four runs batted in, three doubles and one home run.

Jacob Brewer, a redshirt senior pitcher, has returned to the mound after missing all of the 2013 season due to Tommy John surgery. Brewer is 3-1 on the season with 11 appearances and three starts.

Brewer picked up his first career win earlier this season against Mississippi Valley State.
