MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State women's basketball program has received a signed National Letter of Intent from Romanian native Hanna Demeter during the spring signing period, according to head coach Brady Sallee.
A 6-3 guard/forward, Demeter joins Ball State after playing on the Romanian National Team for the past five years between U15 and U17 National Team. She has two nationalities as she is also of Hungarian decent.
"I can't begin to tell you how excited we are to welcome Hanna to our basketball program," said Sallee. "She is the real deal athletically and academically and will be an ideal fit in our system at multiple positions. Her impact will be big and I look forward seeing it all happen in a Ball State uniform!"
In 2009, Demeter led the Romanian team in scoring helping her make the U16 All-Tournament Team. She made the Romanian All-Star Team in 2012, and in 2013 Demeter was voted the top player in Hungary-Baranya County while placing 11th at the world championship 3-on-3 event held in Spain.
"The kind of athleticism coaches usually talk about, are often found in players like Hanna," said Daniel Prince head of Passion Hoops International. "The 6'3 wing forward has stabilized her future for now by committing to Ball State. Brady and his staff have reeled in another international player who will be able to step up in many big ways for the Cardinals. Hanna brings smooth and aggressive mid-range game to the table. Her wing span and length are incredible and should prove very helpful to Ball State right from the get go. She is very mobile on both ends of the court and has good feel for the game. Things have just really vamped up in the Mid-American Conference."
Demeter joins the recruiting class of Moriah Monaco, Khadijah Moore and Brionna Simond who previously signed with the Cardinals in November.
