DeKalb, Ill. - The Ball State men's tennis team suffered a 6-1 setback at Northern Illinois in Mid-American Conference action Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Cardinals drop to 9-11 overall and 0-2 in the MAC while the Huskies improve to 15-5 in dual action and now own a 2-0 league ledger.
At No. 2 doubles, Patrick Elliott paired up with Andrew Stutz for an 8-6 doubles win over the Huskies Frederic Cadieux and Simon Formont. Northern Illlinois would then earn victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions to take the doubles point from the Cardinals.
In singles action, the Huskies took five of the six singles points from Ball State. Lucas Andersen would be the lone singles winner for the Cardinals after beating Cadieux in three sets. Andersen dropped the first set 6-4 but then regained control of the match by taking the second set from Cadieux, 6-3, and then earned the victory in the third, 7-5 (5).
The Ball State men's tennis team continues its three-match road swing when it travels to Western Michigan Sunday, April 13 for a 3 p.m. first serve.
