INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Ball State freshman Kelsey Sear fired a 3-over par round of 75 on Tuesday to run away with medalist honors at the Marian University Spring Classic.

Sear, whose 75 marked the lowest round of her Ball State career, ended the two-day event with a total of 11-over 155 on the way to her first collegiate win. The Unionville, Ontario, product finished 10 strokes ahead of the rest of the field.

Sear began the day tied for the lead with teammate Brenna Obergfell, who ended up with a second-place result for the best finish of her career. The sophomore from Noblesville, Ind., closed with an 85 to post a 36-hole total of 165, good enough for second place by four strokes.

Ball State sent three individuals -- Sear, Obergfell and Meghan McDougall -- to compete in a field of 27 golfers this week at Broadmoor Country Club.

McDougall also finished in the top 10. The sophomore from Markham, Ontario, tied for seventh place with a total of 172 after shooting an 87 in Tuesday’s final round.

Olivet Nazarene finished as the team champion. Ball State did not compete as a team.
