INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team fell 4-0 to No. 9 Illinois Sunday evening in the University of Indianapolis Bubble.  The Cardinals drop to 7-9 overall while the Fighting Illini improves to 12-7.

Illinois took the first point of the match, winning in doubles action.  The Ball State duo of Ray Leonard and Austin Smith dropped an 8-6 decision to Tim Kopinski and Ross Guignon on court one.  Patrick Elliott and Andrew Stutz paired up at No. 2 doubles but would suffer an 8-4 loss to Farris Gosea and Alex Jesse.

The Cardinals would drop three straight singles matches to suffer the team's second straight loss.  Elliott fell to Kopinski 6-2, 6-3 on court two while teammate Smith suffered a 6-1, 6-2 setback to Bazarnik at the No. 4 position.  At No. 6 singles, Patrick Downs would lose 6-4, 6-0 to Julian Childers.  Lucas Andersen was up 2-1 in the second set of his competition over Guignon on court four before play was suspended.

The Ball State men's tennis team continues non-conference dual action when it hosts Butler Thursday in the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center weather permitting.  If inclement weather were to occur the Cardinals will be moved indoors to the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
