Women's Tennis Suffers 6-1 Loss To No. 54 Colorado

Albuquerque, N.M. - The Ball State women's tennis team ended action in New Mexico with a 6-1 loss to No. 54 Colorado Sunday in the Linda Estes Tennis Complex.

With the loss Ball State falls to 8-5 overall while No. 54 Colorado improves their dual mark to 7-3.

Julyette Steur paired up with Ahsley Tiefel for the first doubles win over Ball State's Ashlyn Rang and Courtney Wild capturing an 8-3 victory on court three.  Courtney Earnest and Bethany Moore then evened the score after their 8-3 defeat over Nuria Ormeno Ruiz and Winde Janssens at No. 1 doubles.  Alexandra Aiello and Carla Manzi Tenorio beat Kristel Sanders and Toni Ormond 8-7 (5) to earn the doubles point for Colorado.

Colorado took five of the six singles matches from the Cardinals.  Earnest earned the lone point for Ball State after taking down Colorado's Aiello in three sets, 7-6 (8), 2-6, 1-0 (3).  Witht the win Earnest improves her overall dual mark to 9-2.

The Ball State women's tennis team returns to action March 14 at home against Western Illinois at 3 p.m. in the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.  The Cardinals will also host Xavier March 15 at 1 p.m.
