Women's Tennis Loses At No. 37 Indiana
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team suffered a 4-0 loss at No. 37 Indiana Sunday afternoon in the IU Tennis Center. With the loss the Cardinals fall to 8-3 on the season while the Hoosiers improve their dual mark to 8-2.
The Indiana twosome of Kayla Fujimoto and Sophie Garre won the first doubles match on court two taking down Toni Ormond and Kristel Sanders, 8-5. Courtney Earnest and Bethany Moore teamed up at No. 1 doubles but suffered an 8-1 loss to the Hoosiers Carolyn Chupa and Katie Klyczek by a score of 8-1 which gave IU the first point.
In singles action, Indiana would win on courts four, three and five which gave IU the victory over Ball State. Ormond would lose first at the No. 4 spot dropping a 6-1, 6-3 decision to Paula Gutierrez. Sanders and Terashi would be the next two off the courts both losing in straight sets.
The Ball State women's tennis team starts a two-match road trip to Albuquerque, New Mexico where the Cardinals will play New Mexico at 5 p.m. (EST) March 1 and Colorado at 12 p.m. (EST) March 2.
