MUNCIE, Ind. – No. 13 Ball State men’s volleyball senior middle hitter Matt Leske was named MIVA Defensive Player of the Week for the first time this season and the sixth time in his career. Leske led the blocking unit in wins against conference foes Quincy and Lindenwood this past weekend to extend Ball State's winning streak to six matches.
Leske is third in the conference and eighth in the country with his 1.41 blocking average. He collected 11 total blocks against Quincy and Lindenwood. The senior has tallied at least five blocks five times this season, including a career-high tying 12 total blocks against IPFW earlier this seaon.
Leske and the Cardinals will host No. 1 Loyola-Chicago this Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The match will mark the first time in school history that the Ball State men’s volleyball program has hosted two No. 1 teams in the same season.
