Ball State fourth-year head football coach Pete Lembo has added Nick Siatras to the Cardinals’ coaching staff for the 2014 season.

Siatras, who spent the 2011-13 seasons as the defensive line coach/recruiting coordinator at Miami University, will serve the Ball State football program in the same role.

"We are pleased to welcome Nick and his wife Katie to the Ball State football family,” Lembo says.  “We had a strong applicant pool for this position, including some candidates with which we were very familiar.  However, Nick stood out and perfectly fit all the parameters we established based on the dynamics of our current coaching staff.  He really impressed us with his energy, teaching style and organizational skills in the interview process.  Nick is passionate about recruiting.  He will relate well with families and will help us better utilize technology as we try to advance our entire recruiting operation.  I have great admiration for the Michigan State program and it is obvious head coach Mark D'Antonio and defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi have been great mentors for Nick."

A 2006 graduate of Ohio State, Siatras earned his master’s degree from Michigan State in 2011.  He served as a defensive graduate assistant coach at MSU from 2007-10 and helped the Spartans to the 2010 Big Ten Conference Championship.  Siatras was also on the Spartans’ coaching staff for the Capital One Bowl Game after the 2008 and 2010 seasons, the Alamo Bowl after the 2009 campaign and the Champs Sports Bowl after the 2007 season.  At Michigan State, Siatras assisted with the defensive line and linebackers, while assisting with recruiting student-athletes in the Midwest.

After completing his graduate work, Siatras moved to Miami University where he helped recruit the No. 1 class in the Mid-American Conference for the RedHawks.  He coached the defensive line while overseeing all areas of recruiting.  At MU, Siatras recruited Ohio, Washington D.C., Maryland and northern Virginia.

After his graduation from Ohio State in March of 2006, Siatras was the interim defensive line coach at Cincinnati in December of 2006 and helped the Bearcats in the 2007 International Bowl preparation and game.  He also served as a graduate assistant coach at UC, helping with the defensive line and secondary from June 2006 to March 2007.

As an undergrad at Ohio State, Siatras served as an intern football coach and assisted with the defensive backs and defensive line.  He played two seasons as a center at Youngstown State in 2000 and 2001 after serving as a team captain and earning All-Northeast Ohio honors at Campbell Memorial High School.

Siatras is married to the former Katie Shenoo of Chicago, Ill.
