Women's Swim and Dive Drops to Buffalo, 165-135
MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State women’s swimming and diving team dropped a 165-135 contest to Buffalo at Lewellen Aquatics Center on Saturday afternoon on senior day. Seniors Haley Richter, Bridgette Ruehl and Stacey Wierman earned individual wins on the day along with freshman Katie Horn.
Carlena Magley finished second in the 50 free with a 24.48 while Audrey Rodawig and Jessica Extine touched at 24.88 and 25.09. The score was close going into the first diving event with Ball State up 66-65.
In the 3-meter diving competition all three divers finished with season-bests led by Madie Zirzow who earned second place with a 279.38. Quinn Bixler finished third with a 250.80 while Brittany Penn followed in fourth with a 240.53.
Larah Beaver finished second in the 200 back with a season-best time of 2:09.08 followed by Mallory Miles with a 2:09.80 for third. Allie Kolz finished with a 2:12.61 while Kimberly Scott and Genevieve Hayes turned in times of 2:14.59 and 2:17.63 in exhibition.
Haley Richter earned her second event win of the day in the 100 fly with a season-best time of 55.75. Mallory Miles finished third with a 58.74 while Katie Horn earned fifth with a 58.82. Heading into the final diving event Buffalo was in the lead 125-120.
In the 200 IM, Stacey Wierman was the top Cardinals finisher with a season-best time of 2:12.21. Kimberly Scott and Allie Kolz ended with times of 2:15.46 and 2:17.97 respectively. Jackie Iglesias, Sumaiyah Ahmad and Jessica Extine swam as exhibition swimmers in the event and finished with times of 2:17.18, 2:20.32 and 2:23.02.
Congratulations to seniors Sumaiyah Ahmad, Jackie Iglesias, Cheyanne Jackson, Mallory Miles, Haley Richter, Bridgette Ruehl, Stacey Wierman and Emily Wisolek on the years on dedication to the Ball State women’s swimming and diving program.
