T&F Closes Gladstein Invite With Four More Top 10s
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - - The Ball State indoor track & field team ended competition at the Gladstein Invitational Saturday with another strong showing, posting four top 10 efforts against a highly competitive field.
Leading the way once again for the Cardinals was redshirt junior Rebecca Lomax (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport), who posted a Mid-American Conference Indoor Championship qualifying mark in the long jump with a career-best effort of 5.84m to place third in the event.
Lomax, who won Friday’s pentathlon competition, is also qualified for the MAC Championships in the high jump and pentathlon.
Redshirt sophomore Christina Crawford (Belleville, Mich./Romulus) also turned in a top 10 performance in the long jump, placing eighth with a distance of 5.60m.
In the 800m run, sophomore Danielle Dahl (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) placed fourth overall with a career-best clocking of 2:18.14, while redshirt sophomore Madelyn Webster (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) crossed the line in a career-best 2:24.25 to place 16th.
Redshirt sophomore Marie Lumpkin (Losantville, Ind./Union) collected the Cardinals’ other top 10 performance, placing seventh in the weight throw with a toss of 16.62m.
Overall, the Cardinals posted five career-best efforts on the second day of the non-scored Gladstein Invitational.
The Ball State indoor track & field team will return to Bloomington next weekend for the Indiana Relays which are set to run both Friday and Saturday.
