MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State men’s swimming and diving team travels on the road this upcoming weekend for two meets. The Cardinals will venture up to Ypsilanti, Mich., to take on MAC foe Eastern Michigan and No. 11 Ohio State for a 1 p.m. meet on Saturday, Jan. 25. Ball State will then go to the Butler Invitational on Sunday, Jan. 26 for a noon start.
Ball State is coming off a 148-75 win over Eastern Illinois. Seniors Jake Brehmer and Michael Oaks each earned two individual event wins for the Cardinals. Brehmer posted scores of 263.85 in the 1-meter event and a 281.25 in the 3-meter. Oaks took the 100 free with a 47.80 and clocked a 200 free time of 1:46.92
Cole Smith, Tanner Barton, Andrew Sullenbarger, and two-time MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week Drew Tharp all earned wins for Ball State. Smith clocked a 21.70 to win the 50 free while Barton’s 2:00.77 200 IM time earned a win for the freshman. Sullenbarger had the top time in the 200 back with a 1:56.57 while Tharp’s 1:55.30 200 fly earned him a win.
The 200 free relay of Michael Oaks, Logan Kisinger, Austin Green and Cole Smith won with a time of 1:25.99. The 400 medley relay was also victorious as Andrew Sullenbarger, Conner Snare, Drew Tharp and Cole Smith combined forces for a time of 3:36.31.
Sunday’s Butler Invitational will feature University of Wisconsin- Green Bay, Evansville, Valparaiso, Illinois State, Youngstown State and Xavier.
