MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State women’s swimming and diving team travels on the road this upcoming weekend for two meets. The Cardinals will venture up to Ypsilanti, Mich., to take on MAC foe Eastern Michigan and No. 18 Ohio State for a 1 p.m. meet on Saturday, Jan. 25.

Ball State is one a three-match winning streak, most recently defeating Eastern Illinois at home 164-62. Junior Jordan VanWinkle and freshman Quinn Bixler each won two individual events for the Cardinals. VanWinkle won the 100 free in a time of 54.58 and took the 1000 free in a 10:42.72. Bixler won both diving events with season-bests scores of 217.45 (1-meter) and 234.53 (3-meter).

Senior breaststroker Bridgette Ruehl puts her undefeated streak in the breaststroke to the test this weekend. Heading into the meet, Ruehl holds the fastest 100 and 200 breast times in the Mid-American Conference, both of which are NCAA “B” cut times. The Lowell, Ind., native ranks 43rd in Division I in 100 breast and 33rd in the 200 breast. Seniors Mallory Miles and Haley Richter rank third and fourth in the MAC in the 100 fly.

In the Eastern Illinois meet, senior Cheyanne Jackson won the 200 free with a time of 1:57.14. Richter earned a win in the 50 free posting the sixth-best time in program history with a 23.76. Ruehl won the 200 IM with a 2:13.10 while freshman Katie Horn earned a win in the 200 fly with a 2:09.95. Miles clocked a 2:07.82 in the 200 back to get a win for Ball State while classmate Emily Wisolek earned the top spot in the 500 free with a 5:09.24. Senior Stacey Wierman clocked the fastest time in the 200 breast with a 2:23.29.
