MUNCIE, Ind. - Senior middle hitter Matt Leske has been selected to the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association’s Preseason All-Conference team as voted on by the league’s eight head coaches. Ball State was selected to finish fifth in the conference.
Loyola-Chicago was picked to finish first, earning seven first-place votes. Loyola-Chicago finished five points ahead of Lewis and 15 points ahead of Ohio State. Grand Canyon was picked to finish fourth followed by Ball State and IPFW who tied for fifth. Lindenwood and Quincy rounded out the preseason standings.
Loyola-Chicago’s Joseph Smalzer was selected as the Preseason Player of the Year while the Ramblers’ Peter Jasaitis earned Preseason Libero of the Year.
Ball State will open up the 2014 season on Saturday, Jan. 4 when it hosts two-time defending national champion UC Irvine at John E. Worthen Arena. First serve is set for 7:30 p.m.
